The National Art Center, Tokyo, will host the exhibition "Tate Museum — YBA & BEYOND: British Art of the 90s That Changed the World" from February 11 to May 11, 2026. The exhibition focuses on artists who emerged amidst the tense British society experienced during the worsening unemployment and recession under the Thatcher administration (1979–1990), challenging existing artistic frameworks with experimental expressions. This includes the artists known as the "Young British Artists (YBA)" and their contemporaries from the 1990s, who utilized diverse methods to present original works themed around popular culture, personal narratives, and societal changes. Approximately 100 works by about 60 artists will trace the creative trajectory of British art during the 1990s.
