The 80th "Haru no Inten" Matsuyama Exhibition, a public exhibition of Nihonga (Japanese painting) organized by the Japan Art Institute (Nihon Bijutsuin), opened on October 20th. This year's exhibition features 78 pieces, including the top award winner of the Ikuo Prize and works by artists from Ehime Prefecture, selected from 312 entries. To commemorate this 80th milestone, a special exhibition of past cover illustrations from the "Haru no Inten Complete Works Collection" is also being held, displaying 12 valuable historical covers. On opening day, a gallery talk was held by three members of the Japan Art Institute, with executive director Shunei Nishida praising how beautifully the beauty of Nihonga pigments was reproduced, making each painting shine. The exhibition runs until the 3rd of next month at Iyo-Tetsu Takashimaya.
