KOICHI ONO Exhibition: KOICHI ONO: A RETROSPECTIVE
A retrospective exhibition showcasing the artistic journey and evolution of painter Koichi Ono will be held.Summary
This exhibition is a retrospective of Koichi Ono (born 1946 in Ishinomaki, Miyagi), who graduated from Musashino Art University in 1970 and subsequently worked in West Germany before returning to Japan in 1984. Ono consistently pursues the fundamental proposition of "the establishment of painting" through his artistic practice. The exhibition is structured to reveal the trajectory and changes in his creative process. Concurrently, an exhibition of Yuji Saito (born 1949 in Yamagata City), who worked primarily in Vienna and Poland from 1973 to 1987, will also be held. Visitors can explore the paths and diverse contemporary expressions of these artists who deepened their contemplation of painting amidst the Cold War structure in Europe during the turbulent period around 1970. The event runs from October 31 to November 16, 2025.
