The Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art will hold the exhibition "Janet Cardiff: The Forty Part Motet" from December 13, 2025, to February 15, 2026. This exhibition features Cardiff's representative work, which utilizes advanced acoustic and media technology within the architecturally significant space designed by Yoshio Taniguchi. The artwork, based on Thomas Tallis's 16th-century motet, features 40 individual speakers playing the voices of a 59-person choir, creating an immersive, sculptural sound experience. Cardiff, known for her sound installations and "Walk" series created in collaboration with George Bures Miller, has an extensive international exhibition history. This showing at Marugame is the final venue in a year-long tour across Japan, and the museum plans to utilize its large exhibition hall to maximize the spatial sound experience.
