Summary
The annual Nagasaki Citizens' Art Exhibition, aimed at familiarizing Nagasaki residents with art, commenced on November 27th at the Nagasaki Prefectural Museum of Art. This year, 240 pieces were selected for display from 301 submissions across eight categories, including Japanese painting and Western painting. One notable entry is Toru Urakoshi's "Peaceful Everyday Morning," created from empty beer cans, which expresses gratitude for hearing a rooster crow on an ordinary morning, earning it the newly established "Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Nagasaki Award." Another piece, by Western painter Ayano Nishihara, depicts the resilience of life continuing amidst destruction from atomic bombs and natural disasters. Admission is 300 yen for adults (free for high school students and younger). The exhibition runs in two terms: the first until December 4th, and the second from December 6th to the 14th.
