Recruiting Students for the 10th Year. Tokyo University of the Arts' 'Care x Art' Program, 'Diversity on the Arts Project,' Seeks Working Adults Nationwide.
Summary
The Tokyo University of the Arts (Geidai) certificate program, "Diversity on the Arts Project (DOOR)," which focuses on "Care x Art" to foster talent supporting a society where diverse people coexist, is recruiting working adult students nationwide for its 10th year in the 2026 academic year. Directed by Geidai President Katsuhiko Hibino, the program will offer benefits starting in 2026, as it has been designated as a "Specified General Education and Training" course eligible for the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's Education and Training Benefit, allowing recipients to receive a 40% refund on tuition. Additionally, a new internal system will partially reduce tuition for students concurrently enrolled in other educational institutions. The curriculum features over 30 instructors, including artists and welfare practitioners, offering a systematic approach to understanding art and contemporary welfare. Required courses are fully online in the evenings, while elective courses offer hands-on practice or lectures. Classes are scheduled primarily on weekday evenings and weekends/holidays to accommodate working adults, with online-only participation possible from anywhere in Japan, and missed classes available via catch-up streaming. Upon fulfilling completion requirements, students receive a certificate from Tokyo University of the Arts. Applications for the 120 available spots are open from January 5 to February 13, 2026.
