The art festival "Create! Akigawa Art Stream 2025" is taking place in the Akigawa Valley, spanning Hinohara Village and Akiruno City in Tokyo. Marking its fifth year, the festival exhibits contemporary art suited to the late autumn valley scenery, alongside workshops and live events focused on diverse "creation" cultures utilizing forest resources, running until January 31, 2026. This year, the event coincides with the Agency for Cultural Affairs-sponsored "Calligraphy and Washi Paper Project in Hinohara," which includes an installation by media artist Yoichi Ochiai blending with the mountain village environment using Hinohara washi paper, and three-dimensional calligraphy works directed by calligrapher Rieko Kawabe featuring four contemporary literary figures. The main exhibition period runs from November 22 to December 15, 2025, open only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays across six venues in Hinohara Village and the Itsukaichi area of Akiruno City. Cultural experience content is available until January 31, 2026, and admission is free.
