Expressive Works Group Exhibition Opens at Yonago City Museum of Art: Ai Support Exhibition
Summary
The main exhibition of the "Ai Support Art Tottori Exhibition," organized by Tottori Prefecture to showcase cultural and artistic works by people with disabilities in the prefecture, opened on the 6th at the Yonago City Museum of Art. A total of 466 outstanding works from individuals and groups across three categories—art, literature, and manga—are on display for visitors until the 14th. This 11th iteration of the exhibition, which began in fiscal year 2015 to promote culture and arts for people with disabilities, features expressive pieces such as three-dimensional sculptures made from recycled plastic bottle labels and powerful calligraphy reading "Life Force." The top prize in the art division was awarded to the painting "Existence," a collaborative work by 27 children from the after-school day service "Tsugumi" (Yonago City), which depicts a rock band on stage under the theme "If you don't give up, you can do anything." Governor Shinji Hirai called on attendees at the opening ceremony to feel what the works convey. Traveling exhibitions are scheduled to follow at the Prefectural Museum of Art and the Prefectural Museum.
