Expressive Works: Ai Support Art Tottori Exhibition Opens (Nihonkai Shimbun)
Summary
The main exhibition of the "Ai Support Art Tottori Exhibition," which showcases cultural and artistic works solicited from people with disabilities in Tottori Prefecture, opened on the 6th at the Yonago City Museum of Art. This is the 11th iteration of the event, which began in fiscal year 2015 to promote culture and art among people with disabilities. A total of 466 impressive works from individuals and groups across three categories—fine art, literature, and manga—are on display until the 14th. Among the exhibits are creative pieces like three-dimensional sculptures made from recycled plastic bottle labels and calligraphy boldly stating "Life Force." The Grand Prize in the fine art division was awarded to the painting "Existence," a collaborative work by 27 children from the after-school day service Tsugumi in Yonago City, created under the theme "If you don't give up, you can do anything." Governor Shinji Hirai called on attendees at the opening ceremony to feel what the works convey. Traveling exhibitions are scheduled to be held later at the Prefectural Museum of Art and the Prefectural Museum.
