Summary
The Yokohama Triennale Organizing Committee announced that the 9th edition will be held from April 23 to September 12, 2027, centered around the Yokohama Museum of Art. International curators Cosmin Costinaș and Inti Guerrero have been selected as the Artistic Directors (ADs) to oversee the planning. Costinaș is currently a Senior Curator at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin, while Guerrero is based in Hong Kong. Both recently served as co-ADs for the 24th Sydney Biennale, receiving acclaim for their curation. The selection process involved reviewing 22 candidates nominated from 13 groups. Yukie Kamiya, Chair of the selection committee, stated that the new ADs recognize the necessity for international exhibitions to function within local contexts, expressing deep interest in Yokohama's history of exchange and its cultural ecosystem, anticipating a new form of the Triennale that thoughtfully considers local realities and contemporary challenges.
