Commemorating Mountain Day: The 21st "Forest Art Gallery" Held: Kyushu Regional Forest Office
Summary
The Kyushu Regional Forest Office organized the 21st "Forest Art Gallery" to commemorate Mountain Day (August 11th), aiming to raise awareness about the role and importance of forests by having junior high school students express these themes through paintings, especially amid environmental concerns like global warming. The theme for the Reiwa 7 fiscal year was "The Cycle of Forests Connecting to the Future." The event was co-hosted with the Kumamoto Branch of the Japan Forest and Forestry Promotion and Supply Organization, with judging assistance from the Kumamoto City Education Center. Out of 29 submissions from 17 schools, one Best Award and five Excellence Awards were selected. These winning works will be displayed for two years on the exterior wall and fence of the Kyushu Regional Forest Office building to enhance public understanding and interest in forests.
