To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the long-running NHK program "Sunday Art Museum" in 2026, the "NHK Sunday Art Museum 50th Anniversary Exhibition" will be held at the Tokyo University of the Arts Museum of Fine Arts (Ueno, Tokyo) from March 28 to June 21, 2026. The exhibition will feature over 100 masterpieces and famous items that have graced the program, including works by Munch, Rodin, Picasso, and Taro Okamoto, alongside selected words from past program guests. The exhibition is structured into five chapters: "Beauty Passed Down Through Generations," "Rediscovery of Japanese Beauty," "Crafts: Tradition and Innovation," "Calamity and Beauty," and "The Artist's Life and Beauty." It will showcase the diverse range of art covered by the program, from Jomon pottery to contemporary art, Japanese crafts, and works confronting disasters. Following the Tokyo venue, the exhibition is scheduled to tour to Shizuoka and Osaka.
