Robert Doisneau Photography Exhibition Held at Toranomon Hills; Approximately 40 Works from the Atelier Exhibited
Summary
A retrospective exhibition of Robert Doisneau (1912–1994), a representative photographer of 20th-century French photography, will be held at the art cruise gallery by Baycrew’s in Toranomon, Tokyo, from January 30th to April 12th. Doisneau, born in the suburbs of Paris, gained high acclaim for his photographs capturing the daily lives of ordinary people, primarily in Paris, after working as an industrial photographer for Renault and then going freelance. This exhibition is fully supported by the Atelier Robert Doisneau, established by Doisneau's family, and will feature approximately 40 carefully selected modern prints from the atelier's collection. The displayed works include his iconic street scenes of Paris, early works from his activities in the Parisian suburbs, and portraits of contemporary artists.
