New Cultural Hub in the Swiss Alps: Art Hotel and Restaurant "Chesa Marchetta" Opens
Summary
The hotel and restaurant "Chesa Marchetta" is set to open in Sils Maria, in the Engadin region of Eastern Switzerland, in the winter of 2025. This project is the second hotel by "Artfarm," the hospitality venture established in 2014 by Iwan Wirth and Manuela Wirth, who lead the mega-gallery Hauser & Wirth, following their first project, "The Fife Arms," which opened in Braemar, Scotland, in 2019. Sils Maria is historically known for attracting numerous thinkers and artists, including Friedrich Nietzsche, Marcel Proust, Alberto Giacometti, Thomas Mann, and Hermann Hesse, maintaining its special significance as a cultural center in the Engadin region. Chesa Marchetta was originally a renowned restaurant and pension run by the Godly family since 1947, known for hosting artists like Gerhard Richter and Jean-Michel Basquiat. After four years of renovation, it has been transformed into a facility featuring 13 guest rooms, a 46-seat restaurant, and a separate three-bedroom building available for private rental.
