Regarding the Special Exhibition of Newly Designated Cultural Properties
Summary
The Kagawa Prefectural Museum is holding a special exhibition of "Tosen" (Crossing Boat), a representative oil painting by the Western-style painter Manago Kobayashi (1868-1947), which was recently designated as a Kagawa Prefectural Tangible Cultural Property. The exhibition will run from February 21 (Saturday) to March 8 (Sunday), Reiwa 8 (2026), in the special exhibition room, and admission is free. Kobayashi, a native of Kagawa Prefecture, was highly regarded in the central art world and significantly influenced the establishment and development of modern art in Kagawa. "Tosen," which won third prize at the 1909 Ministry of Education Art Exhibition, fuses realism with *plein air* expression. A free talk session by a staff member discussing the designated work is also scheduled during the exhibition period.
