Swatch Collaborates with the Guggenheim. The "Swatch x Guggenheim Collection" Puts Degas, Klee, Monet, and Pollock on Your Wrist
Summary
Swatch has announced the new "Swatch x Guggenheim Collection," a collaboration with the globally renowned Guggenheim Museum, marking the next chapter of the Swatch Art Journey. This collection merges iconic 20th-century masterpieces with Swatch's creativity.
The designs are inspired by four masterpieces held in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. The collection features four distinct models: one based on Edgar Degas's "Dancers in Green and Yellow" (1903), reflecting movement; another inspired by Claude Monet's "Palazzo Ducale, Venice" (1908), which subtly bridges the two Guggenheim locations and features colors reactive to UV light; a design drawing from Paul Klee's "The Bavarian Don Giovanni" (1919), incorporating playful colors and a special calendar wheel function; and a model based on Jackson Pollock's "Alchemy" (1947), capturing the spirit of Abstract Expressionism.
The collection aims to fuse the aesthetics of these artworks with Swatch's playful spirit, allowing wearers to experience everyday time as art.
