Commemorating the FY2024 Miyagi Arts Award Newcomer Prize: Nodoka Odawara Solo Exhibition "↓ (1985−)" @ Shiogama City Jun Sugimura Museum of Art
Summary
The Shiogama City Jun Sugimura Museum of Art will host the solo exhibition "↓ (1985−)" by sculptor and critic Nodoka Odawara, commemorating her receipt of the FY2024 Miyagi Arts Award Newcomer Prize, running from February 11 to February 23, 2026. The exhibition will feature many previously unreleased sculptures created by Odawara during her teenage years in Sendai, alongside new works based on her research into female sculptors of the Meiji and Taisho periods. Concurrently, as part of Odawara's project focusing on the gendered cultural structure of art history and education, a solo exhibition of Nanako Kosaka (Natsume) (1924-2016) will be held. Kosaka, who never publicly exhibited her work during her lifetime, will have her sculptures, drawings, and self-portraits shown for the first time.
