First Recipients of the “NCAR×AWARE Women Artists Research Fellowship” Announced

The National Center for Art Research (NCAR) and Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions (AWARE) have announced Nodoka Odawara and Yuri Yamada as the first recipients of the “NCAR×AWARE Women Artists Research Fellowship.” The fellowship aims to promote research on female and non-binary artists related to Japan. Odawara, a sculptor and critic, will investigate the overlooked history of female sculptors in modern Japan, while Tokyo Photographic Art Museum curator Yuri Yamada will research early female photographers active from the Meiji era to the pre-war Showa period.
