The nighttime outdoor exhibition 'teamLab Fukuoka Castle Ruins: Festival of the Light 2026-2027' will be held at the Fukuoka Castle Ruins in Maizuru Park, Fukuoka, from October 30, 2026, to January 11, 2027. This marks the third edition of the event, held after a seven-year hiatus. Fukuoka Castle was built starting in 1601 and was one of the largest in Kyushu, known as a 'stone castle' for its extensive stone walls, which remain today. The exhibition uses this historical setting to showcase artworks that react and change in response to people and the natural environment. Examples include 'Eternal Life' (2026), which continuously changes form based on weather conditions, and 'Autonomous Resonating Life' (2017-), where egg-shaped objects emit light and sound when touched, creating a chain reaction throughout the space.
