Featuring Future Series Vol. 1─Music of the 21.5th Century─"AI and Contemporary Music" will be held at the Kohoku Ward Citizens Cultural Center Mizukie Hall in Yokohama. This new series explores from several angles what possibilities contemporary music may hold toward the mid-21st century, and considers the near future of music. The first part will be a symposium titled "AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Contemporary Music" featuring panelists Daichi Ando (composer, music/information science researcher, professor at the Tokyo Metropolitan University Academic Information Infrastructure Center), Naohiro Tokui (representative director of Neutone Inc., specially appointed professor at the Atomi University Center for Information Science and Arts), Hideki Nakazawa (artist, representative of the Artificial Intelligence Aesthetics Art Research Group (AI Bijutsu Geiken)), and Yuji Numano (musicologist, music program artistic advisor/planner-supervisor at the Kanagawa Arts and Culture Foundation). The second part will be an AI × commissioned works world premiere concert featuring three composers who have written newly commissioned works on the theme of AI: Shintaro Shibayama, Yuto Bando, and Hibiki Mukai. The event will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, starting at 14:00 (doors open at 13:30). Admission is 3,500 yen for the general public and 1,500 yen for U24 (those 24 and under). It is organized by the Kanagawa Prefectural Hall (designated manager: Kanagawa Arts and Culture Foundation).
