The Setagaya Art Museum is hosting "Swedish Textiles: Nordic Design Living with Nature and Daily Life" until November 15, focusing on Sweden's textile design that has received less attention. The exhibition highlights motifs close to nature and daily life, bright colors, and modern yet accessible patterns that have brought joy to everyday life in Sweden. Sweden led the international recognition of "Nordic Modern" in the early 20th century, and textiles have provided warmth and happiness during long, dark winters. The show features about 200 rare collections, half from Swedish collector Sara Aksteilius, who has gathered vintage textiles for over 30 years. She began collecting after noticing a tablecloth at her family's summer cottage, and despite initial lack of designer information, she identified the creators of over 2,000 fabrics with help from designers and relatives. The exhibition consists of a prologue, three chapters, and an epilogue, exploring the charm of little-known Swedish textiles.
