"ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2026" Opens: Three Days of Asia's Art Scene Gathering in Fukuoka
Summary
The Asia-themed art fair "ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA (AFAF) 2026" is being held at Fukuoka International Center from October 2 to 4. Now in its 11th edition since starting in 2015, the fair continues its concepts of "bridging with Asia" and "expanding the base of art." It features about 100 galleries from Japan and abroad, including leading Japanese contemporary galleries such as Tokyo Gallery + BTAP, Tomio Koyama Gallery, and Mizuma Art Gallery, as well as a record eight galleries from Taiwan and 17 overseas galleries from South Korea, the Philippines, and elsewhere. The venue includes three sections—"Galleries," "Collaboration," and "Partners"—plus four special booths. "Masters" showcases established artists including Marc Chagall, Léonard Foujita (Tsuguharu Foujita), and Yayoi Kusama. "Infinity" presents large-scale installations, "Moment" features live art with body expression, sound, and light, and this year's "Feature" highlights Cambodian-born artist Kvay Samnang and Kumamoto-based artist Hanako Miyamoto. Talk sessions will cover topics such as cultural capital succession, sculpture and urban development, technology and art history, Taiwan's art market, and regional art. The fair also offers the tea-themed experience "BUBBLEVERSE," coffee and food areas, official merchandise, and collaborates with Fukuoka City's "FaN Week 2026" to present outdoor installations at Sumiyoshi Shrine and a group exhibition at Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, allowing visitors to enjoy art throughout the city.
