Summary
The "NHK Sunday Museum of Art 50th Anniversary Exhibition" will be held at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka from October 10 to December 20, 2026. Celebrating 50 years since the launch of the world's longest-running fine art TV program, "Sunday Museum of Art," the exhibition offers a unique experience where over 140 actual artworks by about 60 selected artists can be enjoyed alongside valuable footage from past broadcasts. Looking back on the program's history, recognized by Guinness World Records, the exhibition presents masterpieces spanning from Jomon pottery to contemporary art, transcending eras and genres, introduced through the words of program guests and video. It is structured in five chapters: Chapter 1 focuses on stars from the late 19th to 20th century; Chapter 2 rediscovers Japanese beauty from ancient times to the Meiji era; Chapter 3 highlights crafts; Chapter 4 explores disaster and beauty; and Chapter 5 delves into artists' studios and creative processes. At the Osaka venue, Salvador Dalí's "Madonna of Port Lligat" and works by Tomoko Konoike will be exclusively exhibited, along with a "Wolf Bench" that visitors can touch and sit on.
