"Tate Britain Turner Exhibition: Sublime Painting, Dialogue with Contemporary Art" — Free Admission Tickets Giveaway
Summary
A major retrospective, "Tate Britain Turner Exhibition: Sublime Painting, Dialogue with Contemporary Art," will be held at the National Museum of Western Art in Ueno, Tokyo, from October 24, 2026, to February 21, 2027. The exhibition brings together more than 80 works, including oil paintings and watercolors, from London's Tate Britain, which holds the world's largest collection of works by J.M.W. Turner (1775–1851), widely regarded as the greatest painter in British art history. Turner depicted the shifting qualities of light and atmosphere sometimes in meticulous detail and sometimes in abstraction, opening new horizons in painting history; his works are celebrated for evoking the "sublime" in nature. The exhibition presents his works thematically in a loose chronological order and places them alongside contemporary art to highlight his influence on later artists. Asahi Shimbun Digital Magazine & is giving away free admission tickets to 10 pairs (20 people) by lottery. The application deadline is October 16, 2026, at 23:59, and applicants must be registered with the free "&MEMBER" service and have opted in to receive the & newsletter. Winners will be notified by shipping of prizes by October 23. The organizers are the National Museum of Western Art, Tate, Asahi Shimbun, and TV Asahi.
