Aya Fujioka Solo Exhibition "Forget Me Not"
Summary
At BUG in Tokyo, Aya Fujioka's solo exhibition "Forget Me Not" will run from October 14 to November 29, 2026. The show centers on her new series of newly shot works including her first video piece, "Forget Me Not." It began when Fujioka received a direct message from a Melbourne woman asking about a mysterious Japanese woman, Fujioka Kimiko, whose name differs by one character from Fujioka's grandmother Kimie. Fujioka travels to Kure, Hiroshima, and Melbourne to search for this possibly non-existent woman, encountering postwar history, migration, and the resilient lives of women. The project follows earlier series like "Rishu" (about her grandmother's migration to Brazil) and "Life Studies." It also engages with found photographs and the irreversible nature of photography. The exhibition is organized by BUG (Recruit Holdings). Admission is free; closed Tuesdays (open Nov 3, closed Nov 8).
