The National Art Center, Tokyo to Hold 20th Anniversary Exhibition, Featuring Works from National Museum Collections Across Japan
Summary
The National Art Center, Tokyo will hold a commemorative exhibition titled "The National Art Center, Tokyo 20th Anniversary Exhibition (working title)" from April 21 to July 26, 2027. Since its opening in 2007, the museum has hosted about 140 exhibitions; this exhibition highlights the artists introduced in those shows and reexamines artistic expressions from the 19th century to the present through six interrogatives: who, where, when, what, how, and why. All works will be selected from collections assembled over many years by national museums across Japan. The National Art Center, Tokyo, which does not have its own collection, has utilized one of Japan's largest exhibition spaces to present diverse exhibitions, educational programs, and international cultural exchange. This exhibition combines the museum's 20-year history of exhibitions with the collections of other national museums to explore the evolution of artistic expression across time and regions and the ways art reflects the world.
