The selected artist is Shigemitsu Taniguchi, an arts and crafts artist based in Akita City who creates works from familiar natural materials inspired by ancient romance. Taniguchi produces various pieces using akebia vines and has received the highest three-star certification from the Royal Society of Arts in the UK.
