A Giant Face Appears Again in the Tokyo Sky: Mé's "Masayume" Returns to Yoyogi Park After 5 Years, Debuts in Okutama
Summary
The contemporary art team Mé's project "Masayume" will be held again in Tokyo from November to December. As a special program of the cultural arts festival "ARTE TOKYO," organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo International Cultural Arts Festival Executive Committee, it will debut in Okutama Town at Okutama General Sports Park on November 21 and 22, and then appear at Yoyogi Park's central plaza on December 5 and 6 for the first time in five years. The work was inspired by a dream that Mé member Haruka Kojin had at age 14, in which a giant human face floated like the moon. It involves selecting one real person's face from around the world and floating it as a giant three-dimensional object in the sky. Since its 2021 presentation at Yoyogi Park, it has also been shown in Lisbon in 2023 and Madrid in 2024. In Okutama, the giant face will appear against a backdrop of mountain ridges, and viewing is free with no reservation required. At Yoyogi Park, it will be displayed from early morning until noon. The display may be canceled due to weather or wind, and updates will be posted on ARTE TOKYO's official social media.
