Summary
An exhibition titled "Bijutsu Bunka IGA Ten" featuring works by 21 artists connected to the avant-garde artists' group Bijutsu Bunka Kyokai, founded in 1939, will be held from October 28 to November 1 in the lobby and foyer of Iga City Cultural Hall (Nishimeiji, Iga City, Mie Prefecture). Admission is free. This is the first exhibition in the Iga region for the group, which pursues free and innovative artistic expression such as Surrealism and works to develop art culture through exhibitions. The 21 exhibiting artists are mainly residents of the Iga region and include deceased individuals. Many have submitted works to public exhibitions in Tokyo, Osaka, and elsewhere, while continuing their creative activities at home or in circles. About 40 works will be displayed, including watercolor, oil, and acrylic paintings, three-dimensional works such as ceramics and cast metal, and photographs. Nakao Noriko of Iga City, one of the exhibition organizers, said, "A diverse and richly individual selection of works will be on display. I hope many people will come to see them." The exhibition runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Workshops will also be held at the hall during the exhibition period: "Let's Draw an Apple" on October 28 from 10:30 a.m. (capacity 20) and "Let's Make a One-of-a-Kind Mask" on October 31 from 11 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. (for preschoolers and elementary school students). Applications are accepted by the Iga City Cultural Association (0595-22-0511).
