[Tokyo] Asada Wataru "TOKYO CUSTOM DRUM SET": An Exhibition to Walk Through a Single Drum Set
Summary
Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre will host "TOKYO CUSTOM DRUM SET: An Exhibition to Walk Through a Single Drum Set" from November 7 to 15, 2026. In prior workshops, the TOKYO CUSTOM DRUM SET project gathered drum set parts from various locations and reassembled them with people with disabilities, children, dancers, and musicians, adapting to each participant's body and ideas to create new drum sets. Drawing on those experiences, this exhibition dismantles one complete drum set and places its parts throughout the venue, allowing visitors to wander through the drum set while sensing sounds and people's movements. Related events include an opening gallery session on November 7 with Asada Wataru and Goto Toshikazu (gift_), and a closing gallery session on November 15 with Asada Wataru, Arai Hideo, and Itasaka Kiyoko. Both sessions are free with advance registration and include sign language and text interpretation. The venue is Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Atelier West; admission is free.
