Ide Yasuto (born 1962, Kitakyushu City) is a Japanese painter known for his fantastical and unique worldview, which combines Japanese sensibilities with motifs from traditional culture and religion in Bali. He studied Japanese painting at the Tokyo University of the Arts in the Hirayama Ikuo Laboratory and made his debut at the 75th Exhibition of the Japan Art Academy in 1990. After being captivated by the culture and religion of Bali during a visit in 1994, he has continued field research in the region for many years, establishing a style that depicts women, animals, and plants with decorative use of vivid colors. The exhibition centers on numerous award-winning works and large-scale pieces presented at the Exhibition of the Japan Art Academy, as well as recent works including his Fuji Mountain series, totaling 28 pieces. Additionally, the exhibition highlights Yasuto's lifelong commitment to educational outreach by displaying the results of his outreach classes held at elementary schools in Ibaraki City and hosting related art education events. This exhibition offers a comprehensive look at Yasuto's career from both the perspectives of Japanese painting creation and educational promotion, marking the largest solo exhibition of his career to date.
