Acne Studios' 30 Years Captured by Nan Goldin. Campaign Returning to the Origin "Denim" Announced
Summary
Acne Studios has announced a new campaign shot by photographer Nan Goldin to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The campaign features artists and creators associated with the brand, reflecting on 30 years through its foundational element, "denim." The brand's history began in 1996 in Stockholm with the creation of 100 raw denim jeans gifted to local artists and friends. For this milestone, co-founder and creative director Jonny Johansson collaborated with Goldin for the first time. Goldin captured intimate portraits of individuals wearing a mix of current, archival, and reissued denim models that symbolize the brand's 30-year journey. Subjects include musician Ellie Rowsell, model and photographer Guinevere van Seenus, artists Jonathan Lyndon Chase and Peter Schlesinger, photographer Jordan Hemingway, actress and musician Juliette Lewis, actress Rila Fukushima, and artist Sandra Paulsson. Johansson stated he sought "iconic" yet "intimate and personal" imagery, emphasizing that the participants appeared as friends rather than models, highlighting the long-standing relationships between the brand and creators. A commemorative reissued denim capsule collection was also released on September 3rd.
