The Story of "City of Mermaids" Woven by Shunji Iwai and 8 Artists at the New Large Building "TOFROM YAESU TOWER" in Yaesu. Introducing the Public Art Inside.
Summary
The large-scale complex "TOFROM YAESU TOWER" in Yaesu, Tokyo, opened on September 10th. Directly connected to Tokyo Station, the 51-story building houses offices, commercial facilities, and a theater. Coinciding with the opening is the public art project "TOFROM YAESU TOWER ART: City of Mermaids," organized by a team including Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. Eight artists, including film director Shunji Iwai, have created works installed in eight locations inside and outside the building. The project aims to trace the memories of Yaesu, aligning with the building's architectural concept of "Yaesu-ness" expressed through a stacked-box design.
