An exhibition by Kishiwada-based wood carver Kenshin Kawai, featuring new works on Kyoto myths and legends.Summary
This exhibition showcases Kenshin Kawai, a fine art wood carver based in Kishiwada who has spent 40 years carving over 500 scenes. Moving beyond traditional danjiri festival float carvings, he presents new works depicting myths and legends connected to Kyoto. The exhibition will be held from November 13 to 15, 2026, at Gensouan, a traditional Kyo-machiya in Kyoto, open from 10:00 to 18:00. Related events include a Noh performance by Kiichiemon Hayashi, a gallery talk with sculptor Satoshi Yabuuchi and Kenshin Kawai, and a talk with tea ceremony by Sotatsu Ota, Rei Morita, and Kenshin Kawai. All events require advance reservation, with a participation fee of 3,000 yen and a capacity of 30 people.
