The 59th Prefectural North Art Exhibition opened on June 10, 2026, at the Arne Tsuyama 4th-floor Municipal Cultural Exhibition Hall in Tsuyama City. The exhibition features works by artists and enthusiasts mainly from the Sakushu region, with 158 participants from 12 municipalities including Tsuyama, Maniwa, and Mimasaka each submitting one piece in five categories: Japanese painting, Western painting, printmaking, three-dimensional modeling/crafts, and design/illustration. Diverse works such as ink paintings using varying ink tones to depict grapes and bamboo crafts recreating cicada antennae and wings in detail are on display. Western paintings depicting two women with delicate expressions and a scene from the Yokozan Kabuki, a prefectural important intangible folk cultural property in Nagi Town, also attract attention. Visitor Sachiko Nagaie (77) from Shoo Town said, "The works are all sophisticated and impressive. Each painting shows ingenuity in composition and color use." The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (until 4:30 p.m. on the final day) and runs until the 14th. Admission is free.
