Keizo Kitajima's Installation "Index 0" at Omotesando, Unveiled at Alaïa's Pop-Up Store
Summary
French fashion house Alaïa has opened a pop-up store at "oak omotesando" in Omotesando, Tokyo, running until March 31, 2027. This pop-up precedes the brand's planned permanent flagship store in Omotesando. The highlight is a photographic installation titled "Index 0" by photographer Keizo Kitajima, which was first unveiled at Alaïa's Summer/Fall 2026 collection show in Paris. The installation features panoramic screens inside the boutique displaying portraits of key individuals behind Alaïa, focusing on their hands, gestures, and dedication to their work, highlighting the human presence that shapes the maison's identity. Through candid and intimate portraits, the work examines the collective spirit behind individual creations and the humanity that supports the creative process. Additionally, the pop-up includes a collaboration with Tokyo-based art book distributor twelvebooks, offering a specially curated selection of books. Limited-edition ready-to-wear and accessories are also available, providing an opportunity to engage with Alaïa's longstanding relationship with art and culture through fashion, photography, and publishing.
