Kyoto's First Large-Scale Art Book Fair "KYOTO ART BOOK FAIR" to Be Held in May 2027 at Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art
Summary
Kyoto's first large-scale art book fair, "KYOTO ART BOOK FAIR (KABF)," will be held for three days from May 21 to 23, 2027, at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art. The fair is organized by the Kyoto Art Book Fair Executive Committee, jointly established by Kyoto-based Hase Building Co., Ltd. and the Tokyo Art Book Fair Office, which has run "TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR (TABF)" in Tokyo since 2009. KABF focuses on Kyoto's culture, techniques, and accumulated publishing and expressive activities, aiming to create new encounters and exchanges by intersecting the art book fair format with Kyoto's unique cultural environment. The venue, the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, opened in 1933 as Japan's oldest existing public museum building and was renewed in 2020 with a design by architects Jun Aoki and Tetsuo Nishizawa. The fair will use the North and South Corridors of the Main Building and plans to host approximately 200 exhibitors. Applications will be accepted from October 24 to November 20, 2026, via the official website. Art direction is by Riku Hoshika, and venue design is by Takeshi Nishio (Days.). Details of exhibitors and programs will be announced in mid-to-late February 2027.
