Art Creation with Akakura as the Stage: Collaboration with Joshibi University of Art and Design
Summary
Akakura Kanko Resort & Spa in Myoko City has launched an art project in collaboration with Joshibi University of Art and Design, in which local residents and tourists participate in creating art. On the 27th, students and university officials gathered near the summit station of Myoko Kogen Sky Cable to introduce the project outline. Plans include digital light art at the summit and works inspired by the sea of clouds in Myoko City, including an exhibition themed on "whale clouds" that will weave a story together with local people over several years. The sea-of-clouds installation uses thin vinyl sheets filled with air to represent clouds, surrounded by spatial art evoking soft light, and visitors can participate by freely expressing clouds. A related balloon art event was also held, where students enjoyed creating with rice plants and tree nuts brought by Senda Kyoichi, who sells interior products made from flowers and trees in Joetsu City. Full-scale activities are scheduled to begin after the snow melts next year, with works to be created together with local residents and tourists.
