Experience Yomiuriland's "Jewel Illumination 2026": Sculptures of Life Woven by Motoko Ishii's Light and Nature
Summary
Yomiuriland in Inagi, Tokyo, will host "Jewel Illumination 2026" from October 29, 2026, to April 4, 2027. Now in its 17th season, the grand theme is "LIGHT is LOVE," with the new sub-theme "Growing Light." World-renowned lighting designer Motoko Ishii creates three-dimensional spaces of jewel-colored light that express the vitality of greenery and plants, Earth's treasures.
A major highlight is the return, after two years, of the new "Growing Green Jewel Color," which decorates areas including Jewelry Plaza near the entrance. The Ferris wheel "Sky-Go-LAND" becomes the "Jewelry Grand Objet," with one side showing 14 jewel-like colors inspired by diamond brilliant cuts and the other side lit in gold and pink to express "LIGHT is LOVE." The Pool WAI athletic area transforms into "Grand Sanctuary," now allowing visitors to walk through its interior for an immersive experience.
Other attractions include the approximately 140-meter "Crystal Passage" light tunnel, the "Jewelry Stream" objet in the flowing pool, and the "Luxury Wall" that depicts dappled sunlight. The fountain show in the wave pool area is the climax, synchronizing a 15-meter ring-shaped water screen, 226 fountains, lasers, and flames. All electricity used is green power from natural energy sources, demonstrating a fusion of environmental sustainability and aesthetics.
