Osamu Watanabe Exhibition ORIGIN
Summary
Osamu Watanabe (born 1980) is a contemporary artist who decorates various objects with hyper-realistic cream, sweets, and fruits. As a pioneer who elevated sweets decoration techniques into art, he has attracted attention in Japan and abroad. His mother was a confectionery teacher, and the sweet scent of sweets became his primal experience as a "memory of happiness." This exhibition, his first large-scale show in his hometown Shunan, explores the origins of his creative activity while reviewing the trajectory of his multifaceted career spanning over 20 years. Visitors are invited to enjoy a sweet, beautiful, dream-like space as if lost in a fantasy world, and to have their own "happy memories" evoked through his works. The exhibition runs from Friday, November 13 to Sunday, December 27, 2026, at a venue in Shunan (see the official website for details). Admission is 1,300 yen for general admission and other rates. Closed on Mondays (open on November 23) and November 24.
