The group exhibition "Communion" at Gallery KAG in Kurashiki, Okayama, redefines the term, which means "communion" or "Holy Communion," as an act of re-binding relationships with others. Curated by Kosuke Kawagami and running from September 13 to December 25, 2026, it features six artists whose works examine how human bonds are formed and changed through experiences like family, care, disability, loss, and collaborative creation. A Tribe Called NoiZ presents a record of collaborative music-making with people with disabilities. Yuka Iiyama shows a video of walking with her sister who has a mental disability. Shintaro Uramaru installs embroidery, photos, and audio exploring sexuality and disability. Daisuke Kosugi uses video to portray his father with a progressive neurological disease, questioning the meaning of living together. Ken Sasaki paints objects collected by his intellectually disabled brother, and Sonia Lins contributes a poetic biography of her sister, artist Lygia Clark. Collectively, these works show how intimate relationships foster creativity and suggest new possibilities for social connection.
