The Ainu Art Show 2026 will be held on October 11-12 at Upopoy (National Ainu Museum and Park) in Shiranuka, Hokkaido. This fifth edition of the event, which started in 2022 to showcase contemporary creativity rooted in Ainu tradition, will feature a diverse program. A highlight is the premiere of a new 30-minute documentary by OKI, a tonkori player and video director, titled "Poroto no Big Ekashi." The film traces the history of a 16-meter-tall statue of an Ainu elder that once stood at the entrance of Poroto Kotan. Additionally, two Hopi silversmiths from the United States, Jero Romabeintima and Delwin Spider Tauvaya, will be guest artists, displaying their jewelry and participating in talk shows. The event will also include 18 booths selling crafts and artwork, Ainu food tasting experiences, and workshops.
