The 37th Praemium Imperiale
Summary
The Japan Art Association announced the winners of the 37th Praemium Imperiale on September 8, 2026. Jenny Holzer won for Painting, Andy Goldsworthy for Sculpture, Daniel Libeskind for Architecture, Herbert Blomstedt for Music, and Cate Blanchett for Theatre/Film. The awards ceremony will be held on October 28 at the Meiji Kinenkan in Tokyo, where each laureate will receive a medal, certificate, and 15 million yen. Additionally, the Association La Source Garouste from France was selected for the 29th Young Artists Encouragement Prize. A lecture by Daniel Libeskind is also scheduled for October 29.
