The autumn special exhibition "Baikō-ji Temple and Buddhist Art of Ōmi: On the Occasion of the Public Unveiling of Baikō-ji's Secret Buddha" will be held at Miho Museum in Shigaraki, Kōka City, from September 26 to December 6. The main statue of Baikō-ji Temple, said to have been founded by Prince Shōtoku, is an 8th-century wooden standing Eleven-Faced Kannon statue (3.2 meters tall, Important Cultural Property), which will be displayed outside the temple for the first time due to repairs to the main hall. A total of 93 items will be exhibited, including the temple's gilt bronze Maitreya statue in half-lotus position, a Shigaraki ware jar with a cypress fence design, and Oda Nobunaga's vermilion-seal letter; exhibits will be rotated during the period. The museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last admission at 4:00 p.m.), closed on Mondays (if a holiday, closed the next weekday). Admission is 1,300 yen for adults, 1,000 yen for high school and university students, free for junior high school students and younger.
