The Fukuoka Asian Art Museum will present the special exhibition "South Asia Special Edition: Beyond Conflict—A Journey Along the Veins of Light" from September 19, 2026, to January 11, 2027, as the second installment of its 2026 collection exhibition series "How to Walk Through Asian Art." The exhibition covers seven countries—India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives—and features the museum's collection alongside newly commissioned and recent works. Part 1 focuses on eight leading contemporary South Asian artists, while Part 2 explores about 200 works under three themes: "Art Alive in the City," "Beyond Conflict," and "Living Tradition and Myth Today." The exhibition examines the cultural connections and creative energy that transcend divisions in a region shaped by colonial rule and religious conflict. It will be held on the 7th floor of the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum; admission is 1,000 yen for adults, 800 yen for high school and university students, and free for junior high school students and younger.
