Shingo Katori (49), former SMAP member and actor-singer, will serve as the first ambassador for an art exhibition, it was announced on the 27th. The exhibition, titled "Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum 100th Anniversary: Musée d'Orsay Collection: The Joy of Living" (until March 28, 2027), will be held from November 14 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno Park, Tokyo. Katori, known for his painting hobby alongside acting and singing, held his first solo exhibition at the Louvre Museum in Paris in September 2018 and successfully toured it domestically from 2022 to 2024. This will be his first time as an art exhibition ambassador. The exhibition features about 110 works—paintings, sculptures, crafts, and photographs—from the Musée d'Orsay, known as the "temple of Impressionism," under the theme "The Joy of Living." Highlights include Jean-François Millet's "The Gleaners" returning to Japan after 23 years and Vincent van Gogh's "The Starry Night" after 16 years. Katori expressed his delight: "I was very drawn to the warm and endearing theme of 'The Joy of Living,' which everyone can relate to. As an art lover, I'm very excited to encounter the wonderful works of the Musée d'Orsay."
