Shingo Katori, an actor, singer, and artist, has been appointed ambassador for "Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum 100th Anniversary: Orsay Museum Collection: The Joy of Living Now," held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno from November 14, 2025, to March 28, 2027. Katori, who has held solo exhibitions such as "NAKAMA des ARTS" in Paris in 2018 and tours in Japan, is serving as an art exhibition ambassador for the first time. In a comment, he said he was drawn to the warm and lovable theme "The Joy of Living Now" and is excited to encounter masterpieces, noting that seeing real works in person offers something special in the smartphone age. The exhibition commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Musée d'Orsay and the 100th anniversary of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, featuring about 110 works from the Orsay collection, including painting, sculpture, crafts, and photography, by 19th-century artists. Highlights include Jean-François Millet's "The Gleaners" (1857), returning to Japan after 23 years, and Vincent van Gogh's "The Starry Night" (1888) and Paul Gauguin's "Arearea" (1892), each after 16 years. The display comprises seven sections, with scenography by Paris-based Cécile Degos.
