null²ⁿ (Nuru Nuru Nexus) by Yoichi Ochiai Grand Opens in Yokohama on October 14: A Permanent Theater Museum Reconstructing the Expo Experience
Summary
The new venue "null²ⁿ (Nuru Nuru Nexus)," successor to Yoichi Ochiai's signature pavilion "null² (Nuru Nuru)" from the Osaka-Kansai Expo, will grand open on October 14 on the 5th floor of Landmark Plaza in Yokohama Landmark Tower. null² was an experiential installation combining special mirror film, LED, and robotics, fusing the Buddhist concept of "emptiness" with the computer science concept of "null," integrating architecture, video, sculpture, artificial life, and interconnected spaces. Rather than recreating the building itself, null²ⁿ reconstructs the Expo experience as a permanent theater, offering an immersive journey through five areas including two LED theaters, where light, mirrors, digital and physical elements blend together. A new anechoic room that focuses on sound without relying on vision is also planned. Additionally, the null² worldview will further evolve with "null⁴ (Tetranul)" to be unveiled at GREEN×EXPO 2027 in Yokohama/Kamisega from March 19 to September 26, 2027, featuring rotating mirror life sculptures that distill and ferment landscapes under the concept of a "computational garden." The project's progression from null² to null²ⁿ and eventually null⁴ is expected to generate renewed attention a year after the Expo.
