New Dance Performance "Dance for Bowie" Depicting David Bowie's "Artistic Rebirth" to Tour Worldwide from Spring 2028: International Co-Production by Bunkamura and Sadler's Wells
Summary
Bunkamura, in international co-production with London's Sadler's Wells, will present a new dance work titled "Dance for Bowie (SUBJECT TO CHANGE - A Dance for David Bowie)" based on David Bowie. Directed by Spanish director Marcos Morau, the piece will have its world premiere at the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg in spring 2028, followed by a European tour, with the UK premiere at Sadler's Wells in autumn 2028 and the Asian premiere in Tokyo in spring 2029. The work explores Bowie's creative approach of transformation, rebirth, and self-renewal. The music features Bowie's iconic songs and original vocals, arranged with choruses rooted in folk music from around the world, combined with vocals by Maria Arnal, creating a musical world where Bowie's legacy transcends eras and borders. The creative team includes composers Alex Reza Vatish and Ben Mervine, costume designer Silvia Delagneau, and set designer Max Grenzel. The main visual features the "TOKYO POP" costume designed by Kansai Yamamoto, famously worn by Bowie on stage in 1973.
