"Liminal – Yoshikatsu Ikeuchi Exhibition" (Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art) Report: Experience the Relationships and Changes Born Between "Seeing" and "Listening"
Summary
The solo exhibition "Liminal – Yoshikatsu Ikeuchi Exhibition" is being held at the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art until October 25. It showcases new paintings by Yoshikatsu Ikeuchi, a composer and artist, along with sound-based art installations, and admission is free. Ikeuchi, from Kyoto and based in Tokyo, began composing in high school and has worked on film and commercial music, including a track for the film "Rage" (2016) scored by Ryuichi Sakamoto. He also creates paintings, having learned from his grandfather, and has participated in group exhibitions across Asia. This is his second solo exhibition in Japan, following one at Kyoto National Museum last year. Ikeuchi explains his dual practice: he is interested in the gaps and the "things born and lost" between different forms of expression, and hopes visitors will find and re-establish relationships between music and painting.
